I’m back! After almost three weeks, I landed at D\u00fcsseldorf Airport on March 23, 2013, at 5:00 p.m. and officially returned to Germany. It felt strange\u2014just 24 hours earlier I was enjoying 26\u00b0C in Miami, and now the frost in Germany was reaching out to grab me. Though to be fair, the cold already hit us during our layover in London, when we left the American Airlines plane and were met by an icy gust of wind in the jet bridge leading us to the gate.<\/p>\n

\nBack in good old cold Europe!!!<\/strong>
Three unforgettable dream weeks now lie behind us \u2013 weeks I will carry in my heart forever. As we departed from Miami, one thought echoed in my mind:<\/p>\n

*“This is it. The three-week road trip through Florida has come to an end. As I write these lines, I’m sitting in seat 44C on an American Airlines flight, waiting for takeoff in Miami with London as our destination. As if this incredible city wanted to make our farewell a bit easier, the sky was overcast today, and on the way to the airport, it poured down with rain.<\/p>\n

We’re taking off now, and it feels as though I’m leaving behind a dear friend \u2013 one I’ve only just come to truly love over these past three weeks. I know that may sound strange, but not for one second did I feel like a stranger in Florida. On the contrary, the USA feels like a second home to me…“*<\/p>\n

This is the beginning of my big Florida road trip report, which will unfold over the course of April. It will cover in detail everything I (or we) experienced \u2014 the good and the bad \u2014 and I\u2019ll also share valuable tips on what to keep in mind or which apps to use in case any of you want to repeat a similar trip.<\/p>\n

During our trip, we also got a full taste of the American Spring Break. Spring Break is typically a one-week, sometimes two-week, break in the academic calendar (semester break) at colleges and universities across the U.S.<\/p>\n

To experience it firsthand, we traveled to Panama City Beach in Northern Florida, where we were guests of Patrick Pfeffer \u2014 a German expat who, together with his brother, owns the largest nightclub in North America: Club La Vela.<\/p>\n

We stayed in his villa for five days and partied with him every night at his epic club. The grand finale was a party on our last night with nearly 6,000 party-hungry students, celebrating alongside us and DJ Pauly D.<\/p>\n

Absolutely unforgettable.<\/p>\n
