Pura Vida!<\/strong>
This is pretty much the<\/em> phrase in Costa Rica \u2013 used on every occasion and literally meaning \u201cpure life.\u201d But its true meaning goes far beyond the literal translation. It\u2019s a mindset, a way of saying: \u201cEnjoy life.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

During my research, I read that travelers really only need to remember these two Spanish words \u2013 and they\u2019ll get by just fine. It seems to fit in every situation. It can mean \u201cHello,\u201d \u201cHow are you?\u201d, \u201cAll good,\u201d \u201cYou\u2019re welcome,\u201d \u201cOkay,\u201d or even \u201cNo worries.\u201d Honestly, learning the language doesn\u2019t sound too difficult. \ud83d\ude04<\/p>\n

But now you might ask: Why Costa Rica of all places?
And I\u2019d say: Why not? As always, I\u2019m drawn to the unknown \u2013 to corners of the world that are still unfamiliar to me, places I\u2019m eager to explore and get to know. A not-so-small reason is also the fact that in November and December, while it\u2019s freezing back home, Costa Rica offers summer temperatures and the chance to jump into the warm Pacific in nothing but swim shorts.<\/p>\n

So what else convinced me to choose Costa Rica?<\/p>\n
