Welcome Fitness Junkies!!
The FIBO in Cologne is a phenomenon. For those who don’t know it yet: FIBO is the world’s largest fitness trade show, showcasing everything that gets a fitness lover’s heart racing. Whether it’s new trends, workout apparel, legal supplements to boost your training, or the fitness stars we all know from social media – the ones who have seemingly come out of nowhere and are now a core part of the expo. Especially in Hall 10, also known as the FIBO Power Hall.
But let’s come back to that hall in a second – first, a quick word about the others. The expo isn’t just about fun – it’s also big business for gym owners and personal trainers. At FIBO, you can find everything you need to build, equip, and run a gym. These halls are the busiest on the first two days, which are reserved for industry professionals and the press. On the weekend, it’s the other way around: the FIBO Power Hall is absolutely packed!
In 2–3 other halls, you’ll find emerging fitness trends and new types of workouts trying to catch your attention. One of the buzzwords this year: EMS – Electrical Muscle Stimulation. It’s gaining more and more relevance. In technical terms, it’s about stimulating the human body through externally applied electrical fields. Wow, that sounds fancy. LOL
To help you picture it better: you wear a suit-like vest, and it kind of makes you feel like Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible. The suit is fitted with multiple impulse pads that stimulate key muscle groups with electrical currents. It’s like an artificial form of resistance that targets deeper muscle layers, making regular exercises significantly more challenging. Personally, I see EMS only as a supplement to conventional fitness training—not as a replacement or a shortcut to save time.
But now, back to Hall 10 – FIBO Power. Every booth, whether it’s stylish fitness apparel or nutrition supplements, showcases its products with, of course, some chiseled male bodies – but mostly with fitness-loving women who bring that WOW factor. And the term “squats” is instantly familiar to everyone here – definitely not a word from a Native American dialect. No squats, no booty. It’s basically the foundational move if you want a butt that can crack nuts. And trust me – there are plenty of those on display here.
Anyone who trains that hard for such results wants to show them off – and thanks to Instagram, they can. 🙂 The ladies proudly flaunt not only their physiques but also the journey that got them there. So for them, FIBO isn’t just a job working one of the stands – it’s also a chance to expand their network and market themselves.
A handpicked selection of these fitness queens is featured in my video.
Personally, I’m really passionate about sports and fitness and have been to 4 or 5 FIBO events so far. Every time, I look forward to it all over again because it always feels like a big family reunion – the family of fitness enthusiasts. On top of that, the expo acts like a huge motivational boost. After visiting, you leave totally inspired, setting new goals or tackling existing ones with renewed energy.
You’ll also find an interview in my video with Ramona Valerie, fitness queen and model, whom I’ve known for several years now and always enjoy seeing again at the event. She talks about how quickly a carefully built social media presence can be torn down by people with bad intentions.
Now that the expo is over, I’m turning my focus back to my fitness goals – and I hope to show off a bit more progress during my Florida trip at the end of May.
NO PAIN, NO GAIN!! 🙂
See you at the next FIBO 2018!!
