It was my long-awaited road trip through Vietnam – three weeks of adventure, culture, and freedom like I had rarely experienced before. Even the flight from Düsseldorf via Doha to Ho Chi Minh City felt like the beginning of something big. I spent two days in this vibrant metropolis, where old colonial buildings blend seamlessly with the chaos of mopeds and street food stalls. In the alleys of District 1, I tasted Pho and Banh Mi, and between ancient pagodas and modern rooftop bars, I could already feel the heartbeat of Vietnam.

But my journey led me further north – to Hanoi. This city pulsed differently: tighter, louder, rawer. One of my highlights was the famous Train Street – a narrow railway path lined with cafés like pearls on a string, while several times a day a train thunders past just inches away. I sat with a Vietnamese coffee in hand, my heart pounding as the train rolled in – a moment you won’t forget anytime soon.

From there, it was time to immerse myself in nature: a three-day tour through Ninh Binh and Ha Long Bay. In Ninh Binh, I glided through emerald-green rivers in a small boat, flanked by jagged limestone cliffs, and climbed to viewpoints that quite literally took my breath away. Ha Long Bay, at last – a fairytale of karst islands, misty horizons, and floating villages. I spent the night on a boat, listened to the waves, and felt that rare sense of peace that sometimes finds you when you travel.

For me, Vietnam was more than just a country. It was a journey of discovery – of its people, its culture, and also of myself. I didn’t just come back with memories, but with stories I’ll never forget.

I look forward to reading your thoughts and comments. Have you ever been to Vietnam? What moments touched you the most?
